Yes and no. He meant what he wrote, but not what I read. And right here is the ‘Aha moment’. The bottom line is that to communicate with the ‘other’ person we have to make sure they are on the same page as us. If they don’t ‘hear us’ we failed. Not them. Us. Dave ‘knew’ what he meant when he said to use the floor downstairs, and to be fair most of us who read it knew that as well, but, that’s not what he wrote. He said to ‘use the floor’ downstairs.
Often what we say/write is not what we really mean, and then it becomes mean, if you know what I mean.
